Found our home, signed the papers…

Finding the perfect home was quite a journey for us! Chris had his heart set on building our home from the ground up, while I dreamed of a turnkey, single-story house. After plenty of discussions (and maybe a bit of friendly negotiation), we found the perfect compromise: a beautiful single-story turnkey home with a full basement that Chris can build out exactly as he envisions. It's truly the best of both worlds!

The moment I walked into the model home and saw the kitchen, I was instantly in love. The house features a spacious, open floor plan, highlighted by what I can only describe as my absolute DREAM kitchen. With four bedrooms and 1,968 square feet on the main floor alone, our new home already felt perfect—but adding the full basement nearly doubles our living space, bringing us just shy of 4,000 square feet!

Of course, we couldn't resist customizing our dream home even further. We chose beautiful quartz countertops and added a cozy fireplace to make it extra special. We officially signed our construction loan on August 30, 2024, which also happens to be my late mother's birthday—a date that holds deep meaning for me.

Construction finally began in December, and, naturally, Murphy's Law kicked in. Despite usually mild winters here in West Virginia, this year brought an unusual amount of snow—around 18 inches over three storms! Chris and I joked that it only snowed so much because we were trying to build our house. Battling these unexpected weather delays has tested our patience, but it's also made the process even more memorable. We can't wait to see it all come together and finally settle into our dream home!
